Robotics is a well accepted solution to the problems of the aging society, including labor shortage, caring of the elder, medical treatment, etc. In the student open projects, I wish to give the students a platform to develop their own robot with the knowledge learned in the class and try to solve the challenges in the aging society as Hong Kong.
Four of the key areas are:
1) Surgical robotics and instruments
2) Assistive robot, such as rehabilitation robot and exoskeleton
3) Biomimetics in robot locomotion, sensing, actuation, etc.
4) Human Robot Interaction (HRI)

The Advanced Biomedical Robotics Lab (ABML) is closely related to Multi-Scale Medical Robotics Center and Chow Yuk Ho Technology Centre for Innovative Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong is seeking for qualified candidates to work on medical robots.
ABML led by Prof.LI Zheng and Prof. XU Ruoyu in the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine at The Chinese University of Hong Kong is now recruiting outstanding PhD candidates with full scholarship support. Our lab focuses on cutting-edge interdisciplinary research, dedicated to developing next-generation medical technologies and medical robotics. Research directions encompass key areas in intelligent medical robotics, including design, locomotion, sensing, and actuation. The available positions include:
